WELCOME TO THE BISHOP GALLEGOS MATERNITY HOME
The Bishop Gallegos Maternity Home is a home for women over the age of 18 who are pregnant and in need of shelter, food, safety, comfort and support during their pregnancy and for a short time afterwards. Established in 1992, we are a non-profit, non-denominational home with a loving environment. We have housed more than 1,000 women and babies since our inception. We provide food, access to medical care and a safe envirnoment. We facilitate referrals to existing services. At various times we have hosted support groups sush as AA, Lamaze, smoking cessation, parenting classes and Bible Studies. We hope in the near future to offer assistance in budgeting and living skills. Numerous agenies in the community have made referrals to us such as St John's Shelter, Loaves and Fishes, Maryhouse, Francis House, county social workers, CPS and numerous agencies from elsewhere up and down the state. Our goal is to empower these women to become self-sufficient and independent in their return to the community with their babies or to facilitate adoption as an option if they so choose. We are a pro-life home and have found that in saving babies the mothers have also been saved. We are located in the South Sacramento area. All races, creeds and nationalities are welcome. We are staffed with a live-in director 24/7.
